Cyanotypes

Cyanotype was one of the earliest photographic printing processes, and was used for many years in the architectural and engineering “blueprint”.  A Prussian blue is formed when a mixture of certain iron salts are exposed to a strong UV light source. Further toning chemicals to modify the image colour. This is a contact printing process i.e. the image is the same size as the negative. Cyanotype seems particularly effective for images with a strong graphic element. Dr. Mike Ware’s new cyanotype allows a greater tonal range.
